Texture in music relates to how different sounds combine into a sonic pattern. Things could affect the overall texture include: The Note choice you decide to use relate to the colors in music. Rhythms are akin to patterns and the frequency these patterns appear. The combination of these elements and on what medium is what creates a musical texture. But sound texture is really everywhere around us all the time. everything from the rhythms of somebody typing on a keyboard, to the howl of the wind. As an artist we try to choose the sounds we like and create a texture with the ones that can live harmoniously together.
In the visual arts, texture is the perceived surface quality of a work of art. It is an element of two-dimensional and three-dimensional designs and is distinguished by its perceived visual and physical properties. Use of texture, along with other elements of design, can convey a variety of messages and emotions.
